Age-Related Macular Degeneration
AMD is known as the Age-Related Macular Degeneration. AMD is an eye disorder that affects the vision. AMD is associated with ageing and in results of damaging the central and sharp eye vision. Central vision is very necessary to visit the object clearly while doing a task such as reading and driving. AMD affects the macula, the central part the retina that allows the eye to see fine details of the objects. There are two types of AMD - Wet and Dry.
Wet AMD is when abnormal blood vessel behind the retina start to grow under the macula and leading the leakage of the blood vessel. Bleeding, leaking, and scarring from these blood vessels cause damage and lead to rapid central vision loss.
Dry AMD is when the macula thins over time as part of the ageing process, gradually blurring central vision. Dry AMD generally affects both eyes. One of the most common early signs of dry AMD is drusen.
